The Listening Center
The belief that we have a hearing solution for every patient, be it a hearing aid or a surgical referral, is what drives the expert audiologists at Georgia Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists. The most rewarding part of their work is hearing patients exclaim, “I love my hearing aids!” and knowing the positive impact it will make on every aspect of their lives. But what really sets The Listening Center apart from other hearing centers is that our expert audiologists work directly with physicians to find the best solution for you.
Our audiologists are Rachel Crout Goldsmith, Au.D., CCC-A,, Jess Tumolillo, Au.D., CCC-A, and Amy Flamenbaum, MS.

The Effects of Hearing Loss
At Georgia Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists, we created The Listening Center to specifically address the needs of patients with hearing loss. One of the most important facts to realize is that hearing doesn’t just affect your ability to have a conversation, it can also contribute to cognitive decline and impairment, dementia, and even Alzheimer’s. When your hearing declines, you try to compensate for that loss in other ways, which often leads to fatigue, stress, irritability, anger, and social isolation. In fact, those with hearing loss experience a greater decline in thinking abilities compared to those without hearing loss.
Audiologists vs. Retail Store
Many patients in the early stages of hearing loss are unfamiliar with the differences between an audiologist and someone who works at a retail hearing aid store. The answer is simple: specialized training. Audiologists are trained at colleges and universities. Our audiologists have a minimum of a Doctorate's Degree in Audiology. Audiologists also work closely with Otolaryngologists to accurately evaluate a patient’s hearing and provide individualized medical diagnosis and treatment options.
Hearing Solutions
If you’re worried you may have a hearing problem, ask yourself these questions:
- Do you ever give a strange answer to a question?
- Do you ask others to repeat themselves?
- Are there activities that you no longer participate in?
If you answered yes, we encourage you to make an appointment with our expert audiologists. Your first appointment will consist of a simple 30-minute hearing evaluation, in which our audiologists will conduct tests to determine the softest sounds heard and how the brain processes speech. If the test results show that you are a good candidate for a hearing aid device, your audiologist will dig even deeper to really get to know you, your needs, your activity level and more, in order to make the best recommendation based on budget and need.
Above all, we do not administer one-size-fits-all solutions. We go to great lengths to personalize hearing solutions that are precisely right for you and your lifestyle. That includes recommending hearing aids, when appropriate, that are extremely discreet, and even options that can be adjusted using your smartphone. We encourage you to let this be the start of better hearing and a better life and consider it an honor to help you on your journey.
